Boscobel House and Gardens Presents "Hudson Hewn: New York Furniture Now"

For its 2016 special exhibition, Boscobel will celebrate the dynamic and ongoing tradition of making furniture in the Hudson Valley. Hudson Hewn: New York Furniture Now will feature locally made, contemporary furniture that is inspired by past and present, by nature and natural materials, and by the very acts of making and living with beautiful objects.

Contributing artists and designers include Atlas Industries (Newburgh), Dzierlenga Furniture (Salt Point), Fern Handcrafted Furniture (Hudson), Josh Finn (High Falls), Rob Hare (Ulster Park), Asher Israelow (Brooklyn and Hudson), Nokolai Jacobs (Rosendale), Jeff Johnson (Poughkeepsie), Christopher Kurtz (Kingston), Mike Legget (Woodstock), Moran Woodworked Furniture (Gallatin), David R. Morton/Big Tree Woodworks (Kingston), Samuel Moyer Furniture (Staatsburg), Munder-Skiles (Garrison), Pacama Handmade (Woodstock), Michael Puryear (Shokan), and Michael Robbins (Philmont). Like many of their early American counterparts, their work blurs the lines between decorative and fine art, craft and sculpture.

Secluded Farm Estate Near Hudson

This quintessential Greek Revival homestead in historic Claverack is surrounded by 60 acres on both sides of a dead-end country road. It overlooks bucolic views of open fertile fields, ancient maple trees, pond, and large pond or lake site.  At the center of the house is a huge light-filled living/dining room with wood-burning fireplace and wall of French doors that open to a deck overlooking farm fields and pond.

There is also a large entryway, eat-in kitchen and full bath on the ground floor. A three-bay barn stands near the home. Only 10 minutes from the bustling, thriving city of Hudson, yet there are no neighbors in sight. Outstanding secluded rural investment property in historic Claverack, the heart of Columbia County.  $850,000

Kinderhook Home with History

This nineteenth century spacious Kinderhook home (once part of an historic mercantile compound with storefront and adjoining unique trade building) has been completely updated and stylishly renovated.

Now it's a remarkable light-filled 3500 square foot loft-style home with open spaces: living room, dining area, family room, studio, cathedral ceilinged kitchen, plus 1/2 bath with laundry on the first floor. Much admired and photographed, the Feed and Seed building was featured in a recent book "Conversations on the Hudson" by Nick Hand in the April 2014 Conde Nast Traveler and in the New York Times "Escapes Section."

The property includes a two-car garage plus storage on a large deep village lot. Walk to Village Square, Library, Farmer's Market, restaurants and the new Jack Shainman Gallery "School." Only 15 minutes to Hudson and 30 minutes to the Capital District.  $395,000

Cheerful Cottage

This immaculately kept bright and sunny house is set among 1920 period homes on a quiet residential street in the quaint Village of Stottville. Described as a ''substantial home'' in the 1925 booklet ''Our Book of Modern Homes,'' offered by the Hudson Lumber & Supply Corporation, this three-bedroom home has wood floors, tall ceilings, clean basement and distinctive Arts and Crafts brackets supporting wide roof overhangs. Set on a half acre with deep back yard, only minutes away from shopping and downtown Hudson. $145,000
