"Oysters are my passion - I eat them, I paint them, I love them. And I am passionate about partnering with the Billion Dollar Oyster Project." - Nadine Robbins, artist
Did you know — A single oyster can filter about 30 to 50 gallons of water every day?
The folks behind the Billion Oyster Project are trying to change that by recycling shells from partnering restaurants and getting them back in the water to build oyster reefs.
To help in the restoration and sustainability for New York Harbor, Nadine Robbins has created a series of "Oyster Paintings" in support of this project. Her ONLINE OYSTER PRINT STORE will donate a portion of the sales to further this cause.
Join this Celebration at the Billion Oyster Project Talk in conjunction with this Artist Exhibition on November 5, 2016 in Rhinebeck, NY.
Zoë Greenberg, head scientific diver for the Billion Oyster Project and teacher at the NY Harbor School on Governor’s Island, will speak about the Ecosystem Restoration and Education Project aimed at restoring one billion live oysters to New York Harbor and engaging hundreds of thousands of school children through restoration based STEM education programs.
JOIN THE CELEBRATION!
P.S. Bring a few oyster shells to the opening and I’ll bring them down to Governor’s Island to place in the harbor - Nadine
