NEWBURGH sits on the Hudson River in the heart of the Hudson Valley, just 60 miles north of NYC. It celebrates a rich history dating back to its incorporation in 1865. Not only does it have the second largest stock of historic buildings in the State of New York, it is also the home to George Washington's Headquarters and has properties, parks and homes designed by Downing, Olmsted, Vaux and many of the other notable American architects of the time.

Barrett Art Center presents its exhibition Envisioning Dutchess on Friday, June 3, 2016, to celebrate its 80th Anniversary. The exhibition features local artists’ visions of Dutchess County. Envisioning Dutchess represents invited artists and community organizations' personal interpretations of Dutchess County through a variety of scenes and subjects. Director Joanna Frang notes, “With the artwork displayed together like quilt squares, you can really see how our diverse community can get in touch with the many diverse points of view – quite literally with their different visions of Dutchess hanging side by side.”
The opening reception will include a silent auction of the works of two past Barrett supporters, artists Lewis Rubenstein and Sam Rein.
